Scandi Decor // A Stylistic Love Affair

As an inherent lover of all things minimalism, I’ve always been drawn to the simplicity and beauty that is Scandinavian design. I’ve innately integrated several (if not most) of its stylistic features into my own personal, eclectic, interior design aesthetic - most recently in outfitting my latest apartment (and no - not solely for the sake of penny-pinching with those IKEA purchases!) (See below)

What I appreciate most about Scandi decor is the inherent synchronicity that exists between seemingly-contrasting design elements—in a way that is simple and honest, without ever compromising beauty and aesthetics:

With its vernacular influence and use of local materials, it embodies Nordic tradition and culture—but its clean lines and sleek shapes render it overtly modernist.
With its use of white walls and light woods, it is bright, airy, and clean—but its emphasis on textures and textiles exudes comfort and warmth.
With its honest expression of form, it is inherently functional—but its mindful attention to details and materials never compromise on beauty.

All of the above, in tandem with its uncluttered approach and emphasis on natural elements (translation: tidy by definition and allowance for guilt-free splurging on *more* house plants (!!) leave me to consider this Nordic style a win (x5) in my book.
